Borough of Douglas 'blooming'

Noble's Park Pavilion's community room was the setting for the Douglas in Bloom 2014 awards, hosted by His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Stan Cain JP.

As in previous years the competition unearthed exceptional green-fingered talent.

 

Competition categories were:

 

 

• Hotels and guest houses without gardens. Winner: Mrs Dentith of Belmont Terrace;

• Hotels and guest houses with gardens. Winner: Mrs McGuire, Trevelyan Hotel;

• Private houses with gardens: Winner: Mr J Smith, First Avenue;

• Business premises. Winner: Mrs Horton, Dental Spa, Ridgeway Street;

• Pub/restaurant/café. Winner: Mrs Perager, Haneffe's Bar/Grill;

• Public/community garden. Winner: Ballacottier Primary School;

• Best Douglas Borough Council property. Winner: Mrs Larkin, Cullyn Link;

• Conservation, wildlife and biodiversity. Winner: Mr Cooke, Murray House, Lord Street;

• Secret garden. Winner: Mrs Webster, Eary Veg;

• Most improved allotment. Winner: Mrs Kershaw, plot 41;

• Most productive allotment. Winner: Mr Dancey, plot 12;

• Most imaginative floral display. Winner Mr Ramsden, Marathon Drive.
