The Henry Bloom Noble Library is continuing its support of the Manx Dyslexia Association (MDA) by hosting the launch of the charity’s new website.

The MDA was set up in 1997 to promote awareness and understanding about dyslexia and to offer strategies, advice and information, all of which can be found by visiting manxdyslexia.com.

The website provides information on the signs that may indicate that a child has dyslexic- tendencies, starting at the pre-school stage and on to the secondary school stage. There are also tips for parents and employers as well as lists of useful resources such as books, IT resources and links to other relevant websites.

Borough Librarian Jan Macartney said: ‘The library enjoys a long-standing relationship with MDA and provides resources to children and adults living with dyslexia, so we were pleased to host the charity’s launch of their new website.’

Regeneration and Community Committee Chair Councillor Stephen Pitts said: ‘The Henry Bloom Noble Library’s links with MDA is just one example of how the library serves a vital community role and its commitment to supporting charitable organisations; another is our partnership with the Noble’s Hospital Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service. I am therefore pleased that once again the library has been recognised as a hub of readily accessible healthcare information.’
