SSAFA Isle of Man representatives meet the Mayor

On Friday April 6 Her Worship the Mayor, Councillor Debbie Pitts, met with representatives of SSAFA Isle of Man, the armed forces charity supporting veterans, service personnel and their families.

Since 2002 Mr and Mrs Griggs have been SSAFA supporters, volunteers and fundraisers, helping to raise around £10,000 for the charity. Among their achievements was securing a free pool table for residents of Heywood Court in Onchan. The couple support bereaved families and clients in hospital and Hospice Isle of Man, while Mrs Griggs was also the charity's housing applications secretary for more than 10 years with responsibility for Heywood Court and two properties at Magher Vay in St Johns. They also distribute disability aids to clients in need.

 

In addition to their work with SSAFA Isle of Man they have been Friends of the Gaiety Theatre members for 22 years.
