Thursday, 08 November 2012 14:27

On Tuesday November 6 2012 His Worship the Mayor, Councillor David Ashford JP, accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Sylvia Ashford, lent his support to Operation Christmas Child, assisting with loading parcels, under the watchful eye of Father Christmas, for the Shoebox Special train at Port Erin steam railway station.

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project run by the charity Samaritan’s Purse and since 1990 has sent gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 94 million underprivileged children around the world. In 2011 more than 3000 shoeboxes were sent from the Isle of Man to Liberia.
