Mayor hosts reception for drainage agency staff

His Worship the Mayor of Douglas Councillor David Ashford JP held a reception on Monday March 18th for drainage agency staff who are to transfer to the Department of Infrastructure following the ending of the department’s drainage agency agreement with the Council.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for His Worship to wish supervisor Eddie Jones well in his retirement which he begins on April 1st after 15 years’ service.


Mr Jones was joined at the reception by colleagues sub-foreman David Liggins (10 years and nine months’ service), drainage operative Nick Faragher, (12 years three months’ service) and drainage operative Derek Scarffe (14 years seven months’ service). Unable to attend were manager Peter Quirk, (nine years one month’s service) and foreman Jimmy Teare, 30 years and 10 months’ service.
