Thursday, 13 June 2013 15:28

A vacancy has arisen for a seat on the Council to represent St George’s Ward in the Borough of Douglas after Councillor Christopher Thomas was elected to the House of Keys.

The successful candidate will join Councillor Stephen Pitts and Councillor Sara Hackman in representing the ward.

Deadline for nominations is 17:00 on Tuesday June 25th and forms of nomination are available from Douglas town hall and online. (See panel opposite).

Should more than one nomination be received by that date an election will be held on Thursday July 18th 2013.

DavidChristian MediumCouncil Leader Councillor David Christian JP (pictured) said: ‘This is a decisive period in the evolution of the Council after it underwent constitutional change in 2012 and is now delivering better for less and developing an increasingly mature relationship with central government.

'The Council would therefore welcome nominations from candidates committed to working in partnership with the private and public sector to create a Douglas resilient to these uncertain economic times and responsive to local needs.’
