It's a wrap: Mayor supports Shoebox appeal

Saturday, 09 November 2013 15:31

Her Worship the Mayor Councillor Carol Malarkey JP, together with the Mayoress, Councillor Sara Hackman, have Christmas all wrapped up after they lent their support to Operation Christmas Child's Shoebox appeal at Port Erin railway station from where Santa and his little helpers travelled to Douglas, stopping to collect shoeboxes at every station along the route.

The appeal is an international project run by Samaritan's Purse that asks people to fill shoeboxes with gifts for underprivileged children around the world. Shoeboxes from the UK are sent to countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Last year the 2,600 shoeboxes from the Isle of Man were sent to the Ukraine.
