Douglas Borough Council is the largest local authority in the Isle of Man and the only one with borough status.
The Council comprises 18 elected councillors, three serving each of the six wards in the Borough.
Under the Council’s constitution the councillors hold specific roles and responsibilities within a framework of an executive committee and three policy advisory committees through which they, together with officers of the Council, serve the ratepayers of Douglas.

We are one of the richest countries in the world and our capital and the state of its people should reflect that."

"The prosperity and wealth of the Isle of Man is dependent on the workers, tenants, families and small businesses of Douglas. The residents of our town deserve an innovative government capable of delivering expanded and improved public services. Democracy on the Isle of Man was built on a council that held the central government accountable, that role must be reclaimed. "
