The Council are seeking 3 permanent Waste Services Operatives (Refuse & Recycling) to work within the Waste Services Section to undertake a full range of functions. This will include the removal of household, industrial and commercial refuse and recycling from a variety of locations within and outside the City of Douglas.

Grade: Pay Band 6, SCP 13 - 17 (£25,274 – £30,719) plus temporary additional element of pay: Market rate of 15% to be paid as a separate supplement to basic pay (increasing the pay to £29,065 - £35,327) for a maximum of 2 years to be reviewed 6 months prior to the end of the fixed period.

 

This role also attracts an additional skills rate of £1,281 per annum.

 

We are looking for an electrician to join the existing team and continue providing our customers with the highest levels of service and in order to meet demands. Within this role you will be expected to participate in the provision of a comprehensive installation, maintenance and repair service to the street and decorative lighting within the City and to domestic and commercial lettings belonging to the Council. The ideal candidate should hold the necessary skills, qualifications and certificates (or equivalent):

 

  • City & Guilds 2360, Part 1 Certificate: or
  • City & Guilds, Part A Certificate and City and Guilds 2360, Part 2 Certificate: or
  • City & Guilds Part B Certificate with relevant I.E.E.I.C 18th Edition 2380 Certificate

APPRENTICE PLUMBER - the apprenticeship is subject to the successful applicant being accepted onto the relevant course by University College Isle of Man, commencing September 2024.

 

Douglas City Council are currently looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, motivated and practical person with good communication skills and with an eagerness to learn. As an Apprentice Plumber you will be trained and will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become a competent Plumber. The rate of pay will be paid at the appropriate Apprentice rate.

 

An apprenticeship is a way for people, aged 16 years and over to work and study at the same time, most of the time will be spent doing on-the-job training in the workplace, and the rest will be spent working towards your qualification which can lay the foundation for a successful future.

You must have proven experience of civil engineering ground working excavations and reinstatement on the highway particularly in the vicinity of live cables and utility services. A driving licence is also essential.

Multi Skilled Tradesperson (with Masonry & Plasterer experience)

Douglas City Council is seeking a keen individual who is interested in working as a Multi skilled tradesperson within the Housing Maintenance Section. The successful applicant will carry out plastering/masonry and all associated building work to a high standard ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, including repairs and maintenance of Council properties. It is essential that candidates have City and Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Plastering or Masonry, along with relevant post qualification experience as a Plasterer or Mason. A full clean valid driving licence is also essential.
