Winners were seven-year-old Freddie Galbraith from Marown School who came up the idea of a toffee apple-flavoured ice cream and nine-year-old Nicholas Jenkins from Arbory for his Britain’s Got Talent rhubarb crumble surprise flavour.

The two pupils’ suggestions impressed the judging panel of the Mayor of Douglas Sara Hackman, Ian Davison of Davison’s Ice Cream and Douglas town centre manager Michelle O’Malley.

The winners’ classes were treated to free ice creams when the Davison’s Ice Cream van came to call at the two schools.

Mr Davison said: ‘The children’s level of inventiveness was truly amazing and once again it was a pleasure to join forces with carnival organisers Douglas Borough Council and Douglas Development Partnership and add to the fun of this year’s Douglas Carnival.’
