Douglas Carnival entry forms now available

Tuesday, 05 April 2016 14:05

People looking to take part in the Douglas Carnival parade on Sunday July 17 can download their entry forms from douglascarnival.im, while hard copy forms are available from Douglas Town Hall in Ridgeway Street and the Henry Bloom Noble Library in Duke Street.

This year prospective entrants will find more categories from which to choose, as Regeneration and Community Committee Chairman Councillor John Skinner explained: ‘With the focus very much on the parade this year we’re offering a wider range of options which will undoubtedly result in an even more diverse spectacular. Introducing new categories for 2016 reflects the Carnival’s growing appeal and will provide even more opportunities for creativity and imagination, talents we know exist in abundance in the Isle of Man, given the outstanding quality of entries we’ve seen over the past two years.’

The 2016 Douglas Carnival categories are:

• Best Float;

• Best Walking Group or Band;

• Best Youth Group;

• Best Charity Entry;

• Best Corporate Entry

• Best Vehicle;

• Best Dancing Group;

• Best Local or International Community Group.

In addition to prizes for these categories, prizes will be awarded for Mayor’s Prize, People’s Choice and Best Overall Entry.
