Douglas Town Centre Management to relocate

Thursday, 16 June 2016 10:42

Douglas Town Centre Management is to relocate to 13 Church Street.

The measure forms part of a cost efficiency programme by Douglas Borough Council to move a number of its services out of leased premises in Victoria Street and consolidate them into the building it acquired last year.

Along with Douglas Town Centre Management the Church Street site will house the Council’s ICT, Borough Wardens and Building Control operations. Additionally, an area previously allocated to vehicle parking has been converted into bike parking spaces for employees’ use to support staff who wish to cycle to work.

Council Leader Councillor David Christian MBE JP said: ‘Bringing these services into a single Council-owned building will not only generate savings which will ultimately benefit the ratepayers of Douglas, but it will also mean that Douglas Town Centre Management, which has a pivotal role in developing the town’s economic, social and cultural prospects, will be more closely integrated with other key Council functions. Importantly, having purchased the building, the Council has acquired a valuable asset for the future.’

Douglas Town Centre Management will open at 13 Church Street on Thursday July 7. Opening hours are 8.45pm to 5.15pm Monday to Friday.
