Poetry at the library for Manx LitFest

Wednesday, 14 September 2016 10:39

As part of Manx Litfest Usha Kishore and the Isle of Man Poetry Society will be at the library on Sunday 2nd October from 1.30pm-3.00pm.

AushaThe event features members of the IOM Poetry Society and has been organised by Usha Kishore (pictured), who said: ‘Literary poetry in the Isle of Man is flourishing, despite our remote location. While speaking of poetry emanating from a small island off the north-west coast of England, one is often prone to the feeling of writing from the periphery. On the contrary, the island’s poets have been successful in their endeavour promoting Manx poetry in the UK and internationally, have won awards and prizes in the UK and Ireland, and have been featured in international projects. The theme of “No Poet is an Island” defines the Manx poets’ determination to be heard within and without the island and highlights their successes further afield.’

The event is free but places are limited. To reserve a place email the library  or call 696461
