Her Worship joined Hospice Isle of Man's Rebecca House in 2007 where she works to this day and of which she says: 'It is a very challenging but rewarding environment and I am part of a wonderful team, making a difference to young patients' lives.'

She and the mayoress are pictured with, left to right, Alex Thompson, Mary Linehan, newly appointed Hospice Isle of Man chief executive officer Anne Mills, Philp Dearden, chairman Sir Miles Walker CBE and guest.

The invitation to the Mayor's parlour was in recognition of the board's kindness and understanding shown to Her Worship and the mayoress, both of whom work at Rebecca House, during their year in office. Her Worship said: 'We are immensely proud of our jobs and of Rebecca House: it is a privilege to be involved with the charity.'
