Her Worship has presented the prizes to category winners from Douglas carnival at a reception in the town hall. Guests heard Her Worship speak of 'the most colourful parade since Douglas Carnival was revived last year' and of the high quality of the floats.

She went on to express her thanks to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for sponsoring the prizes, to Council officers and staff for their hard work and to the Manx public for their support of the event.

Turning to the Carnival King and Queen, Luke Bateman and Catriona Dorrian from Ballakermeen High School, chosen for their outstanding contributions to the life of their school, she said: 'You both looked extremely regal riding high on your "carriage", which was actually a Council parks service wagon decorated by Lucy Randall of Fancie That.'

The People's Choice winner, receiving more than 1000 likes on the Council's Facebook page and winning £250, was the Unified Filipino Association, (pictured below).
