HBNL to host 'Bannocks and Blood' murder mystery

Thursday, 11 October 2018 14:31

The Henry Bloom Noble Library will be hosting a murder mystery evening on Wednesday October 17.

The mystery, ‘Bannock and Blood’, is by best-selling and award-winning author Ann Cleves, who wrote the TV crime dramas Vera and Shetland and is celebrating her 30th book in 30 years. It’s a milestone that prompted her to say: ‘I am so lucky to have been supported by so many passionate librarians and booksellers in my 30 years as an author. Writing this murder mystery script is my small way of saying thank you, and I hope everyone has fun trying to unravel the mystery.’

Borough librarian Jan Macartney said: ‘Four well-known local thespians - Dan Davies, Beth Espey, Stephanie Gray and Bob Harrison - will be taking part, reading the witness statements and forensic reports and the audience will then have to work out “who dunnit”.

‘We’re inviting teams of up to four people to get together to solve the murder and the team that guesses correctly will receive a prize.

‘I’m also delighted that on the evening we’ll be welcoming Peel resident and best-selling author Alan Bradley, who writes the incredibly popular Flavia de Luce series of crime novels.

Alan will be joining Bob to do a Q and A session and a book signing of his latest novel.’

The evening opens at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start and refreshments will be available to help the audience deduce who the murderer is.

Tickets are £2.50 and available at the library or can be reserved by phoning 696461. (Payment must be received before the night).

The Henry Bloom Noble Library is in Duke Street, Douglas.
