Visit by students from Liuyang in Hunan Province
His Worship the Mayor Councillor Stan Cain JP hosted a reception for students from Liuyang in Hunan Province during their visit to the Island between 6th to 15th July.
The students, from Liuyang’s Number One High School, were in the Island as part of a long-standing exchange agreement with Ballakermeen High School.

The visit provided the opportunity for His Worship to present delegation member Simon Lui with a plaque inscribed with the first verse of the Manx national anthem in recognition of the long-standing association between the two towns and with a view to developing closer cultural and commercial links in the future.

Liuyang is acknowledged as the fireworks-manufacturing capital of the world. A party of students from Ballakermeen High School will be visiting the province in October.
