Founded in the Island by Sir William Hillary, the RNLI is charity and rescue service in operation throughout the British Isles.

The present-day Douglas lifeboat is based at Douglas Lifeboat Station, Battery Pier, Douglas, IM1 5BT and operated by a voluntary crew.
